Technology

The technology, simply

Four technologies. One principle: when used consistently, each one helps improve how your skin looks. Here is what they do — and what they honestly don't.

LED Light Therapy

Red · Near-Infrared

What it is

Light-emitting diode therapy uses specific wavelengths of light — primarily red (around 630–660nm) and near-infrared (around 810–850nm) — to interact with the skin's surface layers. It has been used in professional skincare settings for decades. The technology is the same whether you are in a clinic or holding a home device.

What it helps the skin look like

With consistent use, LED therapy is associated with a more even, radiant-looking complexion. Red light supports the appearance of skin tone and texture; near-infrared light is believed to help with the look of deeper skin layers. Most users notice changes to their skin's overall look and feel over two to four weeks of regular sessions.

How to use it

Clean skin. No SPF during treatment. 10–20 minutes per session, three to five times per week. Eyes closed or use the protective goggles provided. Consistent use matters more than session length.

Honest caveats

Results vary. LED is not a treatment for skin conditions. If you have photosensitivity, are taking photosensitising medication, or have any active skin concerns, consult a dermatologist before use. These are cosmetic devices.

Microcurrent

Facial · Sculpting

What it is

Microcurrent delivers very low-level electrical current — measured in microamperes — along the surface of the skin. It is the same foundational technology used in professional facial treatments for lifting and sculpting. A conductive medium (the Skinovia Conductive Gel) is essential: it allows the current to glide and helps it conduct across the skin's surface properly.

What it helps the skin look like

The appearance of firmer, more lifted-looking skin is the primary result people associate with consistent microcurrent use. Facialists often use it before events for this reason — the visible effect builds over weeks of consistent use.

How to use it

Apply a generous layer of Conductive Gel to clean skin. Move the device slowly along the contours of the face — jawline, cheekbones, brow area. Three to five times per week, five to ten minutes per session. Do not use dry.

Honest caveats

Do not use if you have a pacemaker, implanted defibrillator or any metal implants in the face or neck area. Not recommended during pregnancy. Avoid on open wounds, active breakouts or inflamed skin. These are cosmetic devices.

EMS — Electrical Muscle Stimulation

Scalp · Stimulation

What it is

EMS uses gentle electrical pulses to create a mild, tingling stimulation in the tissue it contacts. In the Skinovia EMS Scalp Comb, a lower-intensity version creates a stimulating sensation as it passes through the hair and across the scalp.

What it helps the scalp look and feel like

The primary experience is a refreshing, tingling sensation that many find relaxing. With consistent use, EMS scalp tools are associated with the look of a healthier scalp and improved scalp comfort.

How to use it

Dry hair, three to five times per week. Draw the comb slowly from the hairline through to the crown, section by section. Two to three minutes per session. Avoid use on a wet scalp.

Honest caveats

Do not use if you have a pacemaker or implanted electronic device. Not recommended during pregnancy. These are cosmetic devices, not medical treatments for the scalp or hair.

Cryotherapy

Cold · De-Puffing

What it is

Cryotherapy uses cold temperatures to create a temporary effect on the skin's surface. At home, a chilled roller or the cryo head of a multi-function device achieves a surface cooling effect — one of the fastest-acting technologies in the at-home skincare space.

What it helps the skin look like

The most immediate result: the appearance of reduced puffiness, particularly around the eyes and along the jawline, within minutes of use. Skin looks tighter, more refreshed and less swollen. Especially effective as a morning ritual in the Gulf heat.

How to use it

Keep the cryo roller in the fridge (not the freezer) overnight. Use on clean skin in the morning — roll gently outward from the centre of the face. Two to three minutes is enough for a visible de-puffing effect. Can be used daily.

Honest caveats

Avoid prolonged application in one spot. Do not use on broken or irritated skin. The effects are cosmetic and temporary — they improve with consistency, not single use. These are cosmetic devices.
